Voters can cast vote only by Photo ID cards

The Chief Electoral Officer Shri V.L. Kantha Rao has informed that voters can cast votes for Lok Sabha Election-2019 only by carrying Voter ID cards with them. It has been made mandatory by the Election Commission of India that if a voter has name in the electoral roll then he/she can cast his/her vote by carrying one of the 12 photo ID cards to the concerned polling booths.


Voters can use one of the document to exercise their voting right like EPIC card/Adhaar card/ PAN card/ Driving License/MANREGA job card/ Pension document (photo based)/ Passport/ Passbook with photo issued by banks/post office, Service ID cards/ ID cards issued to Center/ State/ Public Undertakings and Public Ltd. Co./ Government ID papers of Member of Parliament/ member of Legislative Assembly/Members of Legislative Council members/ Smart card issued under the scheme of labour department and Health Insurance Smart Card issued under the scheme of the labour department.
