– September 2020, at the Board Meeting held in Mumbai.


The company posted ₹414 million profit after tax (previous year ₹140 Million) for the quarter ended September 30, 2020. Revenue from operations for the quarter ended September 30, 2020 stood at

₹8,644 million.


The Covid19 pandemic posed a challenging time for all. Blue Dart not only weathered these challenges successfully, but also continued to ensure unmatched service delivery to its customers. NEW DELHI, October 30, 2020: SOS Children’s Villages of India, an international NGO dedicated to the holistic development of children without parental care, has been supplying green fodder seeds at subsidized prices for the farmers of the villages of Routhulapalem, Korada, and Yathapeta of the Visakhapatnam District, Andhra Pradesh, and facilitating in the cultivation of forage crops for grazing. 


The goal of this outreach project, titled, Pashu Grasha Kshethra, is to increase the income of farmers, which in turn would help them take care of the food, health, and educational needs of their school-going children better. 

Launched in two phases in 2016 and 2019, the project is being implemented with the support of the Department of Animal Husbandry, Government of Andhra Pradesh. SOS Children’s Villages is also organizing livestock campaigns on screening and vaccination of animals regularly, besides supplying medicines at free of cost for the livestock.


The number of beneficiaries, at present, include nearly 150 farmers who are able to cultivate green fodder for their livestock comprising over 250 cows, 50 buffalos, and 80 goats and sheep. The benefits also include increased yield of milk in cows and buffalos, and increased meat weight in goats, and sheep. 


Commenting about the Pashu Grasha Kshethra project, Mr Sumanta Kar, Senior Deputy National Director, SOS Children’s Villages of India, said, “There are about 500 farmers in the villages of Routhulapalem, Korada, and Yathapeta of the Visakhapatnam District for whom livestock is the only source of income. They have a total livestock of about 900 cows, 280 Buffalos and 250 goat and sheep. But in the backdrop of increase in price of dry fodder, and non-availability of green fodder, feeding their livestock has been a big struggle. 


With low returns, the families of farmers continue to remain below the poverty line and these families have school/anganwadi-going children below 12 years, who are not getting adequate parental care. Hence, we stepped in and launched Pashu Grasha Kshethra, as an outreach ‘family strengthening’ program, to boost the income of farmers from livestock farming, with the support of the Department of Animal Husbandry, Andhra Pradesh. 

In a phased manner, we could help the local farmers create green fodder fields. Today nearly 150 farmers are able to cultivate green fodder and ensure that their livestock which comprises over 250 cows, 50 buffalos, and 80 goats, and sheep are well fed. As a result, the milk yield from cows and buffalos, and meat weight in goats and sheep has increased.” 


In India, livestock serves as an insurance for about 12 crore small and marginal farmers in India in the event of crop failures. However, the country is currently facing an acute shortage of animal fodder. What adds to the woes of the distressed farmers is the rising cost of dry fodder such as straws and other crop residue, and the cost of concentrates like oilseed cakes and crushed pulses. For instance, the price of dry fodder, usually sold at Rs 600-700 per quintal, has reached Rs 800-1,000 in the recent times. Since fodder is the single biggest cost item in livestock farming, constituting upto 70% of the cost of maintaining animals, any increase in fodder cost further reduces the income of farmers.

In addition to boosting the income of farmers from livestock, SOS Children’s Villages also facilitates in the formation of Self Help Groups, and helps farmers get loans from banks for milch animals, goats, and sheep. The NGO focuses on capacity building at various levels by ensuring that the villagers avail the benefits of various developmental and social security schemes of State and Central governments. Importantly, it sensitizes the local community on child rights and child protection.

New Delhi, October 30, 2020: India’s home-grown Paytm Payments Bank Ltd (PPBL) has today announced that it is now enabling automatic cashless payments at 211 toll plazas across the country and has become the largest acquiring bank under National Electronic Toll Collection (NETC) program. The bank continues to be the largest issuer of FASTags in the country and has equipped over 5 million vehicles with these tags. With this, Paytm Payments Bank has emerged as the largest facilitator of digital toll payments in the country. It is further aiming to acquire another 100 toll plazas and achieve 100% growth in FASTag sales in the next 3 months.

Unlike FASTags issued by other banks, Paytm FASTag doesn't require any separate prepaid account to be created. The money for toll payments gets auto-debited from Paytm Wallet and the balance can also be used for shopping, recharges, bill payments, etc. It can be purchased with minimal documentation like vehicle registration number & certificate and is delivered free of cost at the registered address of the buyer.


In order to educate people about the convenience of cashless payment at toll plazas and help vehicle owners purchase the tags, the bank has set up over 20,000 camps at toll plazas, residential parking lots, fuel stations and other commercial areas across the country.

New Delhi, 28th October 2020: As a part of the Vigilance Awareness Week (VAW), the nation’s leading public sector bank, Punjab National Bank (PNB), today launched the PNB Tracking & Monitoring Staff Accountability Cases (TMSAC) portal and PNB’s 2020 Vigilance Manual. The ceremony was graced by the presence of Shri Suresh N Patel- Vigilance Commissioner, Central Vigilance Commission and Shri P. Daniel - Secretary-in-charge of Central Vigilance Commission along with Shri CH S.S. Malikarjuna Rao - Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of PNB. 

Addressing the occasion, Shri Suresh N Patel, Vigilance Commissioner, said, “We must remember that newcomers learn from the existing ecosystem, and if we have good practices across the organization, they learn quickly and imbibe them for life. The user-friendly TMSAC portal tracks and monitor the complaints/NPA reference at various stages on a real-time basis. The portal will help the Bank identify the internal fraud in advance, take instant action, and improve the internal processes. It will create a bridge between the concerned officers and divisions for sharing of information and will also track relevant information onward submission through DFS and RBI. This will inculcate a sense of honesty and integrity among the employees and control the internal systems making it more transparent. 

The Vigilance Manual helps to have a better understanding of the vigilance functions and the guidelines. The new initiatives like Preventive Vigilance Monitoring Portal, training sessions to promote vigilance awareness, do’s and don’ts and the recent policy changes have also been covered under the new manual.

Goa, October, 2020: Following the end of the domestic transfer window last week, the FC Goa squad for League action this season has now been submitted to the Indian Super League. Each club may register 35 first-team players with at least three developmental players (born after 1st January 2000) to be included in the squad.


As per the 2020/21 rules, All clubs are allowed to have at least five and no more than seven foreign players in their squad. Out of this, one of them must belong to an AFC (Asian Football Federation) member association country. Australian defender James Donachie fulfils that criteria.


The FC Goa squad sees 6 foreigners being named in the squad in addition to 14 players from the home state, Goa. 11 players from last season make the squad once more.


Speaking on the squad days after taking over the reins on the practice ground, Head Coach Juan Ferrando said, “I am very happy to see a very good disposition to work hard and take another step towards improvement amongst all the players. After all, this preseason will be pretty different to previous ones for everyone and attitude is the key.


“Throughout the campaign, I would like to see the team improve week by week and game by game. Our goals as a team are to reach the playoffs and have a good showing in the AFC Champions League.”

पश्चिम बंगाल में मैंने खुद 100 कार्यकर्ताओं का तर्पण किया: जेपी नड्डा

भारतीय जनता पार्टी के अध्यक्ष जगत प्रकाश नड्डा ने न्यूज़18 इंडिया से एक्सक्लूसिव बातचीत में बिहार चुनाव के साथ-साथ पश्चिम बंगाल में हो रही राजनीतिक हत्याओं को लेकर भी कई बातें कहीं. नड्डा ने कहा कि वह खुद 100 कार्यकर्ताओं का तर्पण कर चुके हैं. जेपी नड्डा ने कहा कि जहां तक पश्चिम बंगाल का सवाल है वहां ममता जी की जमीन खिसक गई है. बंगाल विधानसभा चुनावों में बीजेपी की सरकार ही बनने जा रही है. बंगाल में राजनीतिक हत्याओं को लेकर जेपी नड्डा ने कहा “मैं खुद 100 कार्यकर्ताओं का तर्पण करके आया हूं. पुलिस और राज्य के समर्थन से होने वाली हत्याएं वहां आम हो गई हैं. लेकिन इस तरह की घटनाओं से भाजपा पीछे हटने वाली नहीं है.” नड्डा ने कहा कि राज्य में काम करने के लिए भाजपा कार्यकर्ता तैयार बैठे हैं. बंगाल में राष्ट्रपति शासन लागू करने की भाजपा नेताओं की मांग पर जेपी नड्डा ने कहा कि हम लोकतंत्र में विश्वास करते हैं, हम चाहते हैं कि राज्य की सरकार चले, इसके लिए हम अपनी तरफ से सहयोग भी करते हैं. बाकी राज्य की कानून व्यवस्था को लेकर कौन सा कदम सही होगा इसे लेकर फैसला वहां के राज्यपाल का है.


बिहार का महागठबंधन अस्वभाविक


वहीं बिहार के महागठबंधन को अस्वभाविक करार देते हुए जेपी नड्डा ने कहा कि बिहार में ये जिस तरह का महागठबंधन किया गया है वह सिर्फ सत्ता में आने के इरादे से किया गया है, इसके अलावा इसका कोई लक्ष्य नहीं है. राजद का चरित्र अराजकता का है. सीपीआई (माले) विध्वंस / आपदा के समाज में है, यहां तक कि विचारधारा से भी. नड्डा ने सवाल उठाया कि क्या वे बिहार को आगे लाने की भी कोशिश करेंगे? उन्होंने कहा कि कांग्रेस सत्ता में आना चाहती है. उन्होंने मोदी का विरोध करते हुए देश का विरोध शुरू कर दिया है. राहुल

वहीं चुनाव नतीजों के बाद बिहार में बड़े भाई की


भूमिका में आने के सवाल पर नड्डा ने कहा गठबंधन के साथी के साथ हम बड़ा-छोटा नहीं करते हैं, अगर हम चुनाव नतीजों में बड़े भी रहे तो नीतीश कुमार ही हमारे नेता रहेंगे. एलजेपी और चिराग पासवान को लेकर भाजपा अध्यक्ष जेपी नड्डा ने कह भाजपा अपने गठबंधन के साथी के साथ पूरी शिद्दत के साथ चुनाव लड़ती है, हम अपनी गठबंधन की चार पार्टियों के लिए ही प्रचार कर रहे हैं. कुछ लोग भ्रम फैला रहे हैं. मजदूर और किसान मोदी जी के साथ तेजस्वी पॉलिटिकल टूरिस्ट भाजपा अध्यक्ष जेपी नड्डा ने कहा- तेजस्व पॉलिटिकल टूरिस्ट हैं, ये सिर्फ चुनाव के समय आते हैं इससे पहले इनकी विधानसभा में कितनी उपस्थिति रही थी इससे ये साबित होता है ये सिर्फ चुनाव के समय सामने आने वाले लोग हैं.


उन्होने आगे कहा कि तेजस्वी यादव कह रहे हैं कि वह 10 लाख नौकरियां देंगे इनके पिता जी के समय में 10 लाख से ज्यादा पलायन हुआ है. “इसे लालू तारीफ समझते थे अब तेजस्वी इस पर माफी क्यों नहीं मांग रहे हैं?” भाजपा अध्यक्ष जेपी नड्डा ने कहा- ये लोग समाज को खंडित करके वोट बैंक की राजनीति करने की कोशिश करते हैं. इन लोगों ने सिवाय अपने और अपने परिवार के लिए करने के अलावा किया ही क्या है. इनका उद्देश्य लोगों को गुमराह करना है, विकास इनका एजेंडा कभी नहीं रहा है.

नीतीश पर चिराग को राजनाथकी नसीहत-व्यक्तिगत विद्वेष से राजनीति न करें

रक्षामंत्री राजनाथ सिंह बिहार चुनाव के लिए लगातार चुनाव कैंपेन कर रहे हैं. इस क्रम में उन्होंने पटना जिले के बाढ़ विधान सभा क्षेत्र में चुनावी सभा को संबोधित किया. इस दौरान उन्होंने बिहार मंफ एनडीए की सरकार बनाने की अपील करते हुए कहा कि पंद्रह सालों में बिहार में विकास के अनेकों काम हुए हैं और यह आगे भी जारी रहेंगे. राजनाथ सिंह ने कहा कि प्रधानमंत्री मोदी की विश्वसनीयता अद्भुत है. उन्होंने लोगों का भरोसा हासिल किया है. चुनाव प्रचार के दौरान ही न्यूज़18 इंडिया से खास बात करते हुए उन्होंने बिहार की राजनीति पर कई बातें कहीं.


तेजस्वी के नितीश पर आरोप का जवाब

राजनाथ सिंह ने नेता प्रतिपक्ष तेजस्वी यादव द्वारा बिहार को बर्बाद कर दिए जाने के आरोप कर कहा कि इसका सही मूल्यांकन कोई कर सकता है तो जनता कर सकती है. 15 सालों का कार्यकाल जो रहा है उसमें कोई सवाल नहीं कर सकता. नीतीश जी ने बिहार के हर क्षेत्र का विकास किया है और यह जमीन पर भी साफ-साफ दिख रहा है.


कोरोना को लेकर एंटी इन्कंबेंसी नहीं

बिहार में कोरोना काल में बिहार सरकार को विफल करार देने के विपक्ष के आरोप पर राजनाथ सिंह ने कहा कि मैं नहीं मानता के एंटी इनकंबेंसी है, बल्कि यहां तो प्रोइनकम्बेन्सी है. कोरोना के मुद्दों पर भाजपा ने विषेश ध्यान दिया हैऔर आने वाले समय में भाजपा सभी बिहार वासियों को कोरोना का टीका मुफ्त में उपलब्ध करवाएगी.


केंद्र-राज्य में बहुत अच्छा ताल मेल रहा 

राजनाथ सिंह ने कहा डबल इंजन की सरकार (केंद्र में मोदी, बिहार में नीतीश) पर कहा कि प्रदेशमें मोदी जी की योजनाओं को ज़मीन पर कामयाबी से उतारा है. बिहार में राशनकार्ड का मामला हो या फिर, 32 लाख लोगों को आयुष्मान कार्ड देने का मामला हो. किसान सम्मान योजना हो या फिर प्रधानमंत्री आवास योजना हो, नीतीश सरकार ने इन सभी पर बेहतरीन काम किया है.


चिराग की तल्खी पर राजनाथ का जवाब

चिराग पासवान द्वारा सीएम नीतीश को टारगेट करने को लेकर राजनाथ सिंह ने कहा कि स्वस्थ राजनीति में व्यक्तिगत विद्वेष की भावना, या पूर्वाग्रह के साथ राजनीति नहीं करनी चाहिये. राजनीति में तल्खी नहीं होनी चाहिये. बिहार की जनता चाहती है किसी भी तरह भाजपा-जेडीयू की सरकार आऩी चाहिये.


दो तिहाई बहुमत से बिहार में बनेगी सरकार

केंद्रीय मंत्री ने लोजपा और भाजपा की मिली भगत से नीतीश कुमार को डैमेज करने के प्रश्न पर कहा कि चिराग से मिली भगत का आरोप बेबुनियाद है. हम गठबंधन में पूरी तरह से इमानदारी बरतेंगे. भाजपा की साज़िश का आरोप लगाने के पीछे साफ नीयत नहीं है. चुनाव के बाद क्या हो सकता है ये तो भविष्य के गर्भ में छिपा है, ये मैं नहीं जानता, लेकिन भाजपा-जेडीयू का गठबंधन था है और रहेगा. 2/3 बहुमत से सरकार बनने की बात को नकारा नहीं जा सकता.

Mumbai, October 28, 2020: SBI General Insurance, one of the leading general insurance companies in India, recorded a profit before tax of Rs. 402 cr for the first half of the financial year FY20-21 compared to Rs. 278 cr for H1 FY 19-20. SBI General recorded Underwriting Profit of Rs. 56 cr in H1 FY 20–21. The Gross Written Premium (GWP) also witnessed a significant growth of 17% from Rs. 3118 cr in H1 FY 19-20 to Rs. 3658 cr in H1 FY 20-21. The solvency ratio for H1 FY20 –21 is 2.34 against 2.12 for the same period, last year.

Kandpal, MD and CEO, SBI General Insurance Company Limited said, “Our strong distribution network and diversified products portfolio have enabled us to strike growth rate of 17% against the industry growth rate of 1.6% per cent. Led by Health, we expect to close this year with an overall growth of 20%. Since August, there has been uptick in the motor segment, however it will still be some time before the segment will come back to pre-Covid level. On back of massive increase in use of personal mode of commute due to the pandemic, we are expecting positive traction in the third-party cover business. In H1, our Crop and Fire segments have also contributed in our growth.

*76% women aware about self-examination of breast cancer, finds Neuberg Diagnostics’ survey*

~ Lack of awareness related to ‘frequency’ and ‘best time’ for self-examination persists ~

Wednesday, October 28, 2020: Neuberg Diagnostics - India’s fourth largest diagnostic chain– carried out a breast cancer awareness survey pertaining to self-breast examination, it's importance and awareness on hereditary aspects of breast cancer. 70 percent of women are aware of the self-examination of breast cancer out of which 56 percent of women said that they do regular self-examination. However, 35 percent were not aware of when to start performing self-breast examination and 19 percent were unsure about what to do further if they noticed changes. 

Dr. Anagha Zope, Breast Cancer Surgeon, Apollo Hospitals, Ahmedabad emphasized the need for women to start self-examination after 20 years of age and said that there is a need for women to be familiarized with their breast shape and size to detect subtle changes. While suggesting the signs women need to look for during self-breast examination, she said, “A lump in the breast or under the armpit, thickening or swelling of part of the breast, irritation on the breast skin, redness around the nipple area or breast, change in size or shape of a breast, breast pain, or blood discharge from the nipple area are some of the indicative symptoms of breast cancer.” 

Dr Jayanti Thumsi, Lead Consultant – Breast Oncology, Apollo Hospitals, Bangalore recommended doing a self-examination one week after the period. She said, “The examination should be repeated at the same time every month because, during this window of the monthly cycle, the breasts are not very tender or lumpy. In the case of menopause, it is recommended to do self-examination on the same day every month.” 

Dr. Arun Warrier, Medical Oncologist, Aster Medcity, Kochi emphasized the importance of getting clinically examined when you notice changes in your breast. He said, “Many women are now fearing going to the hospital due to the Corona pandemic, but it is important to catch breast cancer before it progresses. Early detection leads to better survival.”  

Discussions amongst families about medical illnesses were far and few according to survey results as more than 50 percent were unaware regarding their family history. 

Dr. Udhaya Kotecha, Clinical Geneticist, Neuberg Diagnostics said, "5-10 percent of patients have breast cancer due to a change (variation) in genes associated with Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer syndrome. Identifying the underlying genetic variation helps assess risk for cancers in other organs and allows informed decision-making regarding risk reduction in surgery."

Aishwarya Vasudevan, Group Chief Operating Officer, Neuberg Diagnostics said “In recent years, there has been a spike in the number of breast cancer incidences in India. Hormonal imbalances, child-bearing age preferences, and lifestyle changes are key factors in high incidences. Early detection can improve the chances of breast cancer survival. However, early detection can only happen when an individual is aware of what to look out for!”

She added, “We found that women are becoming more aware of the self-examination, however about 35 percent are still unaware about the next steps. The only possible solution to this is seeking medical guidance which can support early diagnosis, and access to more effective treatment. This will also help in reducing the number of post-breast cancer survivals in India which is reported at 60% for Indian women, as compared to 80% in the U.S”

Remember, “The best protection is Early detection” Aishwarya says.

In this survey, more than 400 respondents from about 100 Indian cities including Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Kochi and Hyderabad had participated. The age group of respondents was 18 and above.

Businesses are most impacted by the change in behavior of their loyal members. Hence it is apt to measure the sentiment of the loyalists, to gauge the true impact, believes PAYBACK

The first survey on travel loyalists’ points to a gradual revival in the festive season  

More than 20% respondents are planning a vacation in the coming weeks, and it looks even more optimistic for South & North India with over a third respondents planning their trips 

However, a quick recovery may not be visible soon, as more than 40% respondents said that they will be spending less than last year, coupled with the fact that long vacations or international travel are not in consumers’ minds for the balance of the year

Domestic travel has been gaining momentum since unlock, as nearly 40% respondents have either already visited their hometown or have taken a weekend break 


New Delhi, October 28th, 2020: The much-awaited festive season is already showing signs of growth spurts across popular spend categories with the recent online and offline sales marking the start of the festive season. However, with the uncertainties of current times and changing behaviour patterns, it is important to get a pulse of the real consumers to understand emerging trends. Basis insights from a survey conducted on travel loyalists (frequent travellers over the last 2 years), domestic travel is expected to see some revival, especially short or weekend travel. Top choices for travel mode were flights or self-drive while safety and precautions were rated as the top preference as opposed to deals, which used to swing the vote previously. 


This was revealed in a recent study conducted jointly by India’s largest multi-brand loyalty program, PAYBACK and its digital research partner, Unomer. The study examined the sentiments, preferences and outlook of around 1000 respondents regarding Travel in the festive season, post Covid. The respondents were chosen basis their travel behavior in the past 2 years, in the age group of 25 to 50 years across 12 cities including all Metros and few Tier 1’s, with varying income thresholds. Some of the key takeaways are listed below:


Short travel breaks rule 2020

Since the first unlock, nearly 40% of the respondents have either gone back to their hometowns or for a weekend getaway. In the festive season, more than 20% respondents are planning a vacation with nearly one third respondents in South & North India planning their trips. Nearly three-fourth of respondents chose domestic holidays, mostly a weekend or short getaways to nearby destinations. Long vacations and international holiday are off the table for the rest of 2020. Female respondents preferred long trips as opposed to male respondents who chose short vacations.


Females fasten the self-drive mode for short holidays

Nearly 50% respondents during the initial phases of unlock chose self-drive as the preferred mode for short holiday travels with young females leading the pack. North, West & South regions lead the preference for self-drive as trains or buses become the least likely choice (15%) even for short trips or getaways. However, in last few weeks, travel by flights is also seeing an uptick, specifically in the East & West regions garnering 50% preference. 


Less than one-fourth frequent travelers plan to loosen their purse strings this year

More than 40% consumers will be spending less than last year this festive season, followed by 35% at same level and only 20% planning to spend more this year only in the higher annual income households. Respondents in South cities chose to spend more followed by North India.


Deals take a backseat as safety and ratings become driving factors

Nearly two-third of the respondent are booking their travel itineraries via online booking platforms vs the traditional travel agents. Close to 60% respondents have either booked or plan to book hotels for vacation stays and among them, nearly three-fourth are looking at safety precautions (higher than any other aspect), sanitization certificates and high star ratings as key booking criteria, as opposed to affordable rates, deals & offers which would swing the vote earlier. Over 60% respondents plan to go on vacation with their family followed by 25% wanting to go with friends. Solo trips still do not find many takers (9%).


Less travel means more for home consumption

Other than holiday travel spend, other discretionary spends are also getting saved or diverted. There is growing preference for large & small appliances (60%) which emerged as an overwhelming choice, along with apparels (59%), followed by mobiles (45%) and home decor/improvement (37%). Respondents in South India have shown preference for large appliances and mobiles, whereas in North, West and East regions have shown preference for small appliances and home improvement.

निखिल द्विवेदी ने "शेप-शिफ्टिंग" नागिन के सुपर नेचुरल पॉवर्स पर तीन-फ़िल्म फ्रैंचाइज़ी की घोषणा की हैं, जिसका निर्देशन लपाछपी के निर्देशक विशाल फुरिया करेंगे

फिल्म हो या भारतीय टेलीविजन, भारतीय पौराणिक कथाओं और पारंपरिक लोकगीतों ने हमेशा दर्शकों के ऊपर अद्भुत तरीके से काम किया है।

*Pledge Taking Ceremony at PNB on Vigilance Awareness Week*

New Delhi, 27th October 2020: The nation’s leading public sector bank, Punjab National Bank (PNB) with 1 lakh employees across the nation participated in the Integrity Pledge taking ceremony as a part of Vigilance Awareness Week from 27th October to 2nd November 2020. The pledge is a commitment for highest standards of honesty and integrity at all times and to support the fight against corruption. The pledge was administered by Sh. CH SS Malikarjuna Rao, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer and Sh. Vijay Kumar Tyagi, Chief Vigilance Officer. Messages from Honourable President of India, Prime Minister of India, Vice-President of India and Central Vigilance Commission were echoed during the ceremony by Executive Directors.

Theme for this year’s Vigilance Awareness Week is ‘सतर्क भारत, समृद्ध भारत “Vigilant India, Prosperous India”. While taking the pledge, Sh. CH SS Malikarjuna Rao, MD & CEO said that “Everyone must imbibe the quality of being vigilant in day to day routine to protect against untoward incidents. Preventive vigilance takes a very important stage for any organisation, if an organisation is vigilant it will always be strong. Preventive Vigilance is basically a checkpoint to understand if we are adhering to the laid down guidelines. In the interest of newly recruited POs & management trainees, CVC in consultation with PSB’s has issued guidelines to ensure that new staff members are imparted 1 year classroom training as well as on the job training before deployment in to credit division. The scheme was inaugurated by the Honourable Finance Minister, Ms Nirmala Sitharaman.”

Sh. Rao also emphasized on the need to reinforce our commitment every year & think about incidents happened in last one year. The celebration of the VAW 2020 is to be cautious and alert in our professional and personal lives against all potential risks. The core theme of Preventive Vigilance helps and reminds us to create an atmosphere or an ecosystem wherein members of the PNB parivar do not bring any risks upon themselves or the organisation.

अक्टूबर, 2020: चुड़ैल्स की शानदार सफलता के बाद, ZEE5 ज़िंदगी का अगला ओरिजिनल ‘एक झूठी लव स्टोरी’ प्रारंभ करने के लिये तैयार है। ‘एक झूठी लव स्टोरी’ हल्के-फुल्के अंदाज वाली एक नई कहानी है, जिसमें प्यार और जिन्दगी की जटिलताओं को दिखाया गया है। इस जश्नक में चार-चांद लगाने के लिये, प्लेटफॉर्म ने अपना ओरिजिनल गीत ‘मेहरमा’ भी रिलीज किया है, जो इस सीजन का नया लव एंथम होगा।

*GIM hosts celebrated American philosopher and B-school Professor Robert Edward Freeman for a session on Responsible Management and B-School Pedagogy*

Panaji, Oct 2020: Goa Institute of Management (GIM) recently hosted celebrated American philosopher and business school professor Robert Edward Freeman, particularly known for his work on stakeholder theory and business ethics. Freeman is known widely in business and academic circles for his award - winning book Strategic Management: A Stakeholder Approach. 

Freeman spoke about ‘Responsible Management and B-School Pedagogy’ in a virtual setting hosted by GIM as part of its 'Teaching Excellence Program' series. 

Sharing his thoughts on a new narrative of business and capitalism emerging, Professor Freeman said that a balance is to be struck between five seeming dichotomies which are Purpose & Profit, Stakeholder & Shareholder, Society & Market, Humanity & Economics and lastly Ethics & Business. 

Contrary to common perception he stressed that " a business and ethics are not separate entities and can harmoniously live with one another."

Freeman stated how people must quench their thirst for solutions by following their passion, and to do so, they must focus on the idea, rather than the route of technology taken to achieve it. He illustrated how one needs red blood cells (RBC) to survive, but the purpose of life is not to make RBC. Similarly, profit is essential for businesses, but it cannot be the sole purpose of business. Accordingly, he proposed that business schools need to focus on the real problems of business and develop pedagogies to enhance and inspire responsible managers.

“Business is an institute of hope. If you think you need to critique something, do that by creating something better”, Freeman advised the B-school students.

Freeman emphasised on the need to build innovative and ethical business leaders. The integration would take businesses to new heights. He also elucidated that for a business to be efficient and successful, it must have a few elements - a great product, supplier’s trust, environmental awareness and a conducive employee workplace. 

In an earlier series, GIM has hosted a session on Open Pedagogy and Higher Education along with Prof. Arley Cruthers, Teaching Fellow from the Kwantlen Polytechnic University in Canada.
