BJP National President Shri Amit Shah addresses public meetings in Paschim Medinipur, West Bengal
- Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah has lashed out at the Congress for needlessly creating an uproar of Prime Minister Narendra Modi raising the issue of former Prime Minister Rajeev Gandhi's involvement in the Bofors corruption scandal.
- Shah said that it is baffling to see that Congress party leaders do not lose an opportunity to call Modi all kinds of names, even at a time when there is an obvious groundswell of support from everywhere in the country to make Modi the Prime Minister again.
- “Recently Modi Ji said that during Rajeev Gandhi's time, Bofors happened. I want to ask Rahul whether during his party's time Bofors happened or not, Bhopal gas tragedy happened or not, whether the Shanti Sena blunder happened, whether Kashmiri Pandits genocide happened or not?”
- ”Don't the people of the country know? Rahul Gandhi is saying that his father's name has been sullied and humiliated but is telling the truth bad? The fact is there have been more than 50 times that Congress leaders have called Modi Ji by name like Osama, compared Modi Ji's mother's age with a dollar, called him Hitler and even illiterate and stupid. When the name of a PM who is no more is taken, they feel bad and shout but when the name of a sitting PM is taken in a wrong manner then they keep quiet. Recently Priyanka Gandhi compared him to Duryodhan. People will decide on 23rd who is what.- whether Modi Ji is Arjun or Duryodhan”, he added.
- Expressing confidence of Modi Ji coming back to power Shri Amit Shah said that wherever he goes he finds that people have made up their minds to vote for BJP. “I have come here after traveling all over the country since last several months - from east to west and north to south - and could only hear chants of Modi Modi. This is not merely a chant but the blessings of 125 crore people of the country. People have already decided that the next PM will be Modi Ji.”
- Mamata Didi says that she won't let Modi Ji become PM. I want to ask her if she believes in the constitution of India which says that whoever wins becomes the PM. Perhaps she doesn't believe in the constitution. I want to tell her that it doesn't matter what she thinks, people of India want to make Modi Ji PM and that is what is going to happen on the 23rd. Shah added.
- Hitting out at the TMC and its leadership, Shah said that this election is very important for West Bengal as it will decide if democracy will survive here. “Mamata Didi throttled democracy by the way she has ruled the state. Mamata Didi, you are going out of power for sure, after the 23rd May, there will a new era in Bengal, democracy will be restored in West Bengal.”
- Saying that Mamata Banerjee is not allowing people to chant Jai Shri Ram in the state, Shah wondered if not in India then where else can the people do so? "Lord Ram is a part of the culture of India. Can anybody stop people from taking his name? I want to ask Mamata Didi if Shri Ram's name is not taken in India, will it be chanted in Pakistan?"
- Shah said violence had never been the culture of Bengal but was the land of stalwarts like Ramakrishna Paramhans, Tagore, Ishwarchand Vidyasagar, Khudiram Bose, and others. “Earlier we used to hear the sound of Rabindra Sangeet every day but now you hear only the sound of bomb explosions here. TMC coined the slogan of Maa, Maati, and Maanush but that has all gone out of the window. Today all that one can see is corruption by the TMC and the syndicate. Where does this syndicate tax go to? This tax goes to Mamata Didi's nephew who sends it outside the country. Students in Islampur wanted to study in their mother tongue Bengali and not in Urdu but they were silenced. The state has been ruined culturally and economically.”
- Taking on the opposition parties on the NRC issues he said that BJP would ensure that every illegal immigrant is thrown out of the country on the Assam model. “The BJP government will identify all illegal immigrants from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and expel them. They are eating our country from insides like termites and are a threat to the country's security. Mamata Didi and others are worried about infiltrators and want to keep them but for us, the security of the country is more important than votes. Let me assure Sikh, Buddhist, Christian, Jain, and Hindu refugees that they will not be removed and they are safe here in India. First, we will bring the Citizenship Amendment Bill and then only NRC will be implemented.”
- Elaborating on the efforts of the Modi govt. for West Bengal, Shah said that the UPA government gave the state only Rs 132000 crore while in the 14th Finance Commission, the BJP government increased it to a whopping amount of more than Rs. 424800 crore for the state's development. “But has it reached you? where has it gone? The syndicate has eaten it up.”
- Shah exhorted the gathering to help the BJP win the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and bring Modi Ji back to power. “After a long time, we have got such a dedicated person as PM, who works long hours each day for the development of the nation. Please elect BJP from more than 23 LS seats and bring back Modi govt. once again. Only Modi Ji can keep the nation safe,” he said.
